This yearās competition carried the theme āEnhancing the Role of Petroleum Engineering in Sustainable Energy Transitionā with the sub-theme āUnlocking the Full Potential of Business Strategies: Optimizing Natural Gas Utilization in Indonesiaās Journey Through the Energy Transitionā.
After passing a series of rigorous selection stages, the winners were announced on Saturday (February 22nd, 2025). The Si Bolang Team showed exceptional performance with sharp business strategy analysis, as well as innovative yet realistic decarbonization solutions. āParticipating in the Business Case Competition was an incredibly valuable and challenging experience. I gained many new insights into strategically analyzing business problems and developing innovative solutions,ā said Nazwa.
Meticulous preparation was the key to the teamās success. They effectively divided roles, conducted detailed research on oil and gas economics in Indonesia, and studied relevant regulations. Furthermore, they engaged in discussions with mentors, both experienced seniors in the industry and faculty advisors, to ensure their proposed solution was both theoretically feasible and practically applicable.

However, the teamās journey is without hurdles. One of the biggest challenges they faced was time management amidst their intense academic workload. Additionally, the competition was also highly competitive, featuring the best teams from various universities with a background in energy and business. āThe Q&A session during the business was quite intense, as the judges, who are experts in the oil and gas industry, asked complicated questions covering upstream to downstream business operations,ā Revino explained.
For the Si Bolang Team, the competition was not just about winning, but also a valuable learning process. They not only honed their skills in energy business analysis but also gained a deeper understanding of how proposed solutions should reflect a balance between profitability and sustainability.
As Lisa said, āJoining this competition is not just about the āoutcomeā, we gained a lot of knowledge from the process itself. Such as developing strategic thinking for the energy industry and crafting solutions that are not only technically feasible but also sustainable and commercially valuable.ā
This achievement serves as their motivation to continue developing and contributing to a more sustainable energy future. May this achievement inspire other students to embrace challenges and pursue continuous learning.
