UNESCO Digital Talent Summit 2022: Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ and Huaweiâ€™s Agreement to Improve Collaboration in ICT Development

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id â€“ Digital talent is the blood of a technological company. The ability of a company to continuously innovate and lead the market correlates critically with the quality of digital talent that they possess. Therefore, it is not rare to see tech companies being actively involved in the educational field. This step is also followed by the Chinese giant tech firm, Huawei.

Huawei organized the Digital Talent Summit at UNESCO World Higher Education Conference in Barcelona, Sunday (22/05/2022). More than 80 educational figures worldwide were invited to this event, where â€˜ICT-Based Solutions to Higher Educationâ€™ became one of its main topics. Through many of their programs such as the ICT Academy Project, Huawei partnered with higher education institutions worldwide to create high-quality ICT (Information and Communication Technology) graduates.

Huawei and Institut Teknologi Bandung have a history of collaboration. In 2011, Huawei and the Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) agreed to build a datacom training center. In the last Digital Talent Summit, Âé¶¹Ö±²¥â€™s rector, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, revealed her perspective regarding the educational collaborations spearheaded by Huawei.

â€œWe are very grateful to Huawei, who has provided a forum for students to learn deeper about ICT and its application in todayâ€™s world industry, through several of its exceptional programs, such as Huawei Training and Certification for Lecturers and Students, Huawei ICT Competition, Seeds for the Future, Technical Days, and Collaboration with Government. We hope these partnerships and collaborations between itb and Huawei will continue to develop,â€ stated Prof. Reini.

Prof. Reini also adds that collaboration between industry and educational institutions is very crucial for preparing competent ICT graduates. Active cooperation with Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ is a part of Huawei Indonesia and the Republic of Indonesiaâ€™s Governmentâ€™s joint partnership to strengthen the digital ecosystem through human development.

â€œIn the future, we hope Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ will maintain and enhance the partnership with Huawei, as well as continue the development of ICT skills to support the Indonesia Digital Prosperity 2045 program. By choosing Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ as the Huawei Academic Support Center in 2021, Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ commits to support Huawei in developing ICT education collaborations and its implementation in other universities, improving its unique learning experience with a local wisdom approach,â€ concluded Prof. Reini.
