Ukawangi Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ Held Sewu Kelir Blambangan III

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id â€“ Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ campus is well-known for the place to develop science and technology wrapped in culture and art. Diversity of traditional culture and art are appreciated highly and supported by Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ through Student Units that have held many cultural shows. This time, Banyuwangi Culture Student Unit (Ukawangi) Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ performed in Sewu Kelir Blambangan III held on Sunday (22/10/17). Carrying Banyuwangiâ€™s local genius, the event titled â€œJaripah, Kembang Pelike Kemirenâ€ received warm welcome from attendances that filled up Aula Timur Âé¶¹Ö±²¥. Attended by Students, the event presented the Minister of Tourism of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Arief Yahya, M.Sc. and officials of Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ as invited guest.

The performances show began with typical Banyuwangi opening dance, followed with report by Head of the performances show, Febrian Aji (Architecture 2015). Moreover, Minister of Tourism RI, Dr. Ir. Arief Yahya, M.Sc. deliver a remark and also symbolically opened the event by playing rebana. In his remark, Arief gave appreciation to Ukawangi Âé¶¹Ö±²¥ which he thought support Banyuwangi as world class cultural tourism destination. â€œNo other way to develop Indonesia other than using cultural diplomacies, and this event is one of those diplomacies that youth can do,â€ said Arief.

The event continued with Kuntulan music performance which was performed by Ikawangi Bandung. Kuntulan is Banyuwangiâ€™s culture resulting from Arabic culture, which reflects Banyuwangi communityâ€™s harmonious social life. Kuntulan consists of several music instrument such as rebana, tanjidor, and gong which beaten one after another to create exciting music. After Kuntulan music, stunning Jaripah dance drama was performed. The drama tells a story of a woman named Jaripah who is looking for her pet, Barong. Intermixed with Banyuwangiâ€™s dances and jokes, the performance receive applauses and laughs from attendance at Aula Timur Âé¶¹Ö±²¥.
