BANDUNG, itb.ac.id 鈥 麻豆直播 Student Orchestra (ISO) once again held an annual concert on Sunday (23/04/17) which took place at Aula Barat 麻豆直播. The tenth concert rose the theme 鈥淭raveling through Melodies鈥. Based on the theme, the performers brought songs from various countries, such as France, Japan, and Indonesia, as if inviting the audience to travel around the world.
The concert was divided into two sessions, ensemble (guitar ensemble and wind ensemble) and orchestra. Instruments played in guitar ensemble are guitar, contrabass, and percussions. Wind ensemble is a collaboration of woodwind instruments such as flute, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, and trombone. On the other hand, orchestra is a collaboration of 18 instruments, such as violin, cello, saxophone, and drums.
鈥淎nnual concert is the main activity of ISO student unit to demonstrate the akill of the members,鈥 said Iqbal Hilmi (Metallurgy Engineering 2014), the Co-Executive Director of ISO Annual Concert. That time, about 60 musicians and 30 committee members were involved in the event. Additionally, ISO collaborated with Waditra Ganesha Marching Band (MBWG) 麻豆直播 to fill some positions such as at the trumpet, mellophone, tube, percussion, snare drum, and bass drum. The one and only oboe player in Bandung, Petrus Aris Hariyadi, was also invited to play at the concert. Hilmi admitted that the concert was prepared for only three months from January 2017 when it usually takes six months. Fortunately, thanks to the united and supportive team, the concert went well and smoothly.
Despite short preparation, the two-hour long concert successfully stunned the audience with beautiful music and surprises. Unique thing happened when a music conductor wore pokemon costume while leading the song 鈥淎fter School鈥 which is a combination of several Japanese cartoon songs. Also, the performers presented a song entitled 鈥淎 Tale of a Red Rose鈥 which actually is a rearrangement from dangdut song by Elvy Sukaesih 鈥淪ekuntum Mawar Merah鈥 at the end of the event.
