Rivaldy鈥檚 interest in aerospace engineering began during his university years. While studying at 麻豆直播, he believed that an engineer must possess a well-defined area of specialization mastered in depth. This conviction led him to actively engage in research and technology development activities. In 2013, he initiated Aksantara 麻豆直播, a student organization focused on drone research and development.

From a Drone Startup to the Aviation Industry
Rivaldy鈥檚 professional journey did not immediately take him to a major corporation. Between 2013 and 2014, he served as Founder and Team Leader of Aksantara 麻豆直播, leading a team of students in research on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones. This experience introduced him to applied engineering, team leadership, and technical decision-making.

He then transitioned into the professional world as Chief of Technical & Engineering at Aerogeosurvey (2015鈥�2016). During this phase, Rivaldy began to face real industrial challenges, ranging from managing technical teams and ensuring engineering quality to bridging business and technical requirements.

In 2016, Rivaldy entered the global aerospace industry by joining Airbus Helicopters Indonesia as a Production Controller. This role provided him with a comprehensive understanding of production processes, time management, and cross-functional coordination within the aviation industry. He was later entrusted with greater responsibilities as a Project Manager from 2019 to 2021, overseeing highly complex projects with stringent safety standards.

Stepping onto the Global Stage
Alongside his professional career, Rivaldy actively pursued personal development and international networking opportunities. From 2018 to 2019, he was involved as a British Council Ambassador, a role that broadened his perspective on global collaboration and cross-border talent development.

To strengthen his academic and managerial foundation, Rivaldy pursued a master鈥檚 degree in Aerospace Engineering Management at the University of Glasgow. While in the United Kingdom, he actively built professional networks and explored various career opportunities. Despite securing several interviews, the outcomes did not immediately meet his expectations.

鈥淚 applied for more than 100 positions internally at Airbus and failed. But I just kept trying until it worked,鈥� he said.

For Rivaldy, the process itself was an essential part of his professional learning journey.

After returning to Indonesia and continuing his career at Airbus Helicopters Indonesia, Rivaldy did not stop pursuing his aspirations. His long-term efforts eventually paid off. Since 2022, he has officially joined Airbus UK in Bristol as an Aerodynamics Engineer, marking a significant milestone in a career he has built over more than a decade.

Sharing the Path with the Next Generation

Beyond his professional role, Rivaldy is also actively involved in sharing his experiences. He served as a Career Mentor at YIPA UK (2024鈥�2025) and has taken on the role of a Talent Advisor. In 2025, he founded Get Karier, a platform focused on career and personal development, aiming to expand access and insights for young Indonesian professionals to confidently compete at both national and global levels.

Through his extensive journey, Rivaldy Varianto Susilo demonstrates that a global career is built through gradual processes, hard work, failure, and a continuous willingness to learn.
