The Passing of Prof. Asep Gana Suganda

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – 鶹ֱ mourns for the passing of Prof. Dr. apt. Asep Gana Suganda at 19.00 WIB, Tuesday (7/6/2022). To honor his deeds, a funeral procession was held at the West Hall on June 8.

The Rector of 鶹ֱ began the ceremony with a speech. “We are all here to give our final gratitude to Prof. Asep for his service, contributions, and devotions to 鶹ֱ and Indonesia.”

Prof. Asep was dedicated to his career and had an outstanding record throughout his journey. He was known as a polite and respectful figure towards both seniors and juniors. Numerous achievements were accomplished by him for the country to strive further.

He was also credited for assembling all the ADAB values of 鶹ֱ, comprising the principles of inclusion, integrity, innovation, perseverance, excellence, and loyalty.

One of the representatives of Prof. Asep’s family, Ganjar E. Suganda, expressed his deepest condolences for his passing. His family hoped for everyone’s forgiveness of his wrongdoings in life. “We pray for him to be in peace, as well as strength for us to face ahead,” he added.

The pharmacognosy professor from the 鶹ֱ SF Biology Pharmacy Research Group was born at Sindangrasa-Ciamis on Wednesday, 13th of August 1952. He became part of the 鶹ֱ SF’s teaching staff from 1 January 1977 till today.

Prof. Asep’s academic record is shown as the following:
1. 1964: Graduated from SDN 2 Sindangrasa Ciamis
2. 1967: Graduated from SMPN 2 Ciamis
3. 1970: Graduated from SMAN 5 Bandung
4. 1976: Graduated from 鶹ֱ Undergraduate Study of Pharmacy
5. 1977: Graduated from 鶹ֱ Pharmacy Professional Program (鶹ֱ)
6. 1981: Graduated with DEA from the Faculte Pharmacie de Nantes in France
7. 1983: Graduated with a doctoral degree from the Faculte Pharmacie de Nantes in France
8. 1985: Obtained teaching certification (V)

Aside from teaching, Prof. Asep was the Head of 鶹ֱ SF Laboratory and the Chairman of the 鶹ֱ Internal Supervisory Unit (11 February 2005 – 5 January 2020). He was also the Executive Secretary of SNMPTN/SBMPTN from 2002 to 2018. He had done various research and issued several national and international publications.

“Instead of wasting our time in sickness, we should use those moments to find the true meaning of our lives forgotten by us before,” the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Elfahmi, stated while reading Prof. Asep’s CV.

After the funeral procession and a stop at 鶹ֱ Salman Mosque, Prof. Asep will be interred at 鶹ֱ Cibarunai Cemetery. The ceremony was attended by all 鶹ֱ directors and academic communities.
