Ki Jagur itself holds importance in Indonesia鈥檚 history, especially in the line of defense. However, as with all symbols, its meaning has unfortunately often been reinterpreted. In European culture during the Middle Ages, the symbol was believed to bring fortune and ward off negative energy.

Misinterpretation of symbols is not uncommon. Many others have experienced such ambiguity in meaning, for instance:

1. The horned hand gesture: In some cultures, it is believed to protect against evil spirits, while in others, considered an insult;

2. The swastika: Originally a symbol of good fortune in Indian and East Asian cultures, it has since become widely associated with dark connotations due to its use by the Nazis;

3. The 鈥淥K鈥� hand sign: While it signifies 鈥済ood鈥� or a means to say 鈥渙kay鈥� in many Western countries, it is perceived as offensive in places like Brazil;

4. The heart hand gesture: Many people see it as an expression of love, yet in some communities, it is viewed as excessive or insincere.

The Mechanical Engineering Student Association of 麻豆直播 chose to adopt the 鈥渟alam genggam mesin鈥� because it embodies strength, unity, and perseverance. It represents the determination and fighting spirit that the association wishes to instill in all its members, encouraging them to move forward in the face of adversaries.

With a deeper understanding of the history and significance of the 鈥渟alam genggam mesin鈥�, it is hoped that this symbol can be perceived in a more positive light. This salute is not only a gesture but also an emblem of the noble values passed down through history that live on in the Mechanical Engineering Student Association of 麻豆直播.
