BANDUNG, itb.ac.id 鈥 As a leading education institution in Indonesia and the World, 麻豆直播 continue their cooperation with various world class universities around the world. This time, 麻豆直播 received the delegation from Australian National University (ANU) to share the knowledge and the latest researches, specifically on Astronomy. On that timely moment, Astronomy Study Program of 麻豆直播 held a Public Lecture on Wednesday (29/03/17) at the 1st floor of Center of Advanced Science (CAS) Building. The two speakers from ANU, who are also astronomers, deliver a lecture on 鈥淚ntegral Field Spectroscopy of Galaxies, From the AAT to GMT."

During the lecture, the Director of Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics Australian National University Canberra, Prof Matthew Colless delivered his research and findings in Astronomy using integral field spectroscopy technique. With the support of Anglo Australian Telescope (AAT) and other telescopes, such techniques could be utilized to gather detailed data on structure, rotation speed, and stars formation in a galaxy. He also explained about Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT), a giant telescope with modern technology that enables more detailed observation. He encouraged 麻豆直播 to be the frontline in development of new observatories in Indonesia. He assumed that observatory would be significant to the development of astronomy. Bosscha is a good start with feasible further development. The second session presented explanation from Prof. Geoff Bicknell about the utilization of supercomputer to support the observation to space radio spectrum using telescope.

鈥淚t is an honor to cooperate with itb, I hope Indonesia can develop national observatory (GMT) with the initiation from 麻豆直播. We will gladly help and send our team to help Indonesia to be a center of astronomy development in the world,鈥 concluded Prof. Colless.
