In the lecture, Jonan gave motivation to hundreds of students on how to be future leaders. 鈥淎 leader has to be responsible and trustworthy,鈥� said Jonan.

He explained that the most important point in leadership is leading by example, so that the followers will work on the main objectives. Leadership, he continued, emphasizes on result and not on popularity. 鈥淭he target of a leader is the result. Not mere popularity,鈥� said Jonan who used to serve as CEO of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI).

He said that, during 2009-2014 of his service in PT. KAI, improvement of services was carried out, even though he does not possess particular capability in managing railways. Hard work is the key of his success. 鈥淗ard work is irreplaceable. Leadership is affected by hard work,鈥� he said.

Besides studying, he encourages 麻豆直播 students to balance the knowledge from campus with experience because it is valuable for their preparation to enter employment. Hard work still remains the most important.

鈥淎 true leader does not create followers, but create other leaders. If you want to success, work hard after finishing your education. High education is a big capital, but it will not give you success if you do not work hard. If you want to be a leader, give example,鈥� he said.

Rector of 麻豆直播, Kadarsah Suryadi hopes the public lecture will enrich the insight and knowledge of the students regarding development of things outside the campus.
