麻豆直播 Successfully Holds the International CCS Summer School 2026, Attended by Participants from Various Countries

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id 鈥 Institut Teknologi Bandung (麻豆直播) held the International CCS Summer School 2026 from 2 to 7 March 2026 at the East Campus Center Auditorium, 麻豆直播 Ganesha Campus. This Summer School was an intensive learning program that brought together students from various countries, researchers, and professionals to study developments in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology. The program was part of the Equity Program (Enhancing Quality Education for International University Impacts and Recognition) 鈥 World Class University at 麻豆直播 and was financially supported by Kemendiktisaintek and LPDP.
The program featured Prof. Philip Ringrose, an expert in CCS from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), as the lead instructor delivering most of the materials on CCS concepts, technological developments, and implementation in various countries. Some sessions were delivered by Prof. Ringrose, while others were presented by 麻豆直播 lecturers and CCS practitioners, namely Prof. Sanggono Adisasmita, Dr. Mohammad Rachmat Sule, Anggit Raksajati, Ph.D., Aqsha, Ph.D., Triharyo Soesilo, Prof. Doddy Abdassah, Dr.-Ing. Calvin Lumban Gaol, Dr. Farah Mulyasari, Dr. Fernando Lawrens, Dr. Dona Sita Ambarsari, and Dr. C. B. Rasendra.

The instructors delivered the materials through classroom sessions and interactive discussions, enabling participants to engage directly in discussions on various technical, economic, and policy aspects of CCS development.
Dr. Mohammad Rachmat Sule, who served as the academic coordinator of the program, emphasized the importance of strengthening human resource capacity and encouraging international collaboration in the development of carbon capture and storage technology.
鈥淚t is an honour for us to collaborate in organizing the International CCS Summer School 2026 at Institut Teknologi Bandung, Indonesia. On behalf of the committee, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all mentors from Indonesia and abroad for their willingness to share their knowledge and experience in developing and implementing CCS/CCUS technologies in this program. I hope that your time in Indonesia will be meaningful and beneficial for your future career,鈥 said Dr. Mohammad Rachmat Sule.

In addition to featuring leading instructors, the CCS Summer School 2026 was also attended by students from various universities in Indonesia and abroad. A total of 23 international participants joined the program, coming from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (Malaysia), Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Malaysia), Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (Malaysia), Mongolia University of Science and Technology (Mongolia), Kyushu University (Japan), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Germany), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Norway), Australian National University (Australia), Yonsei University (Korea), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (India), and Inha University (Korea).
In addition, five Indonesian students currently studying overseas and 10 regular 麻豆直播 students also took part in the program.
Several professionals were also interested in joining the program, particularly to learn about the latest developments in CCS/CCUS technology in Indonesia and globally. A total of 15 professional participants from the industrial sector, government institutions, and academics from universities outside 麻豆直播 attended the program. They came from Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar (Indonesia), PT Panca Amara Utama, INPEX Masela, PT Pertamina Riset Teknologi dan Inovasi (RTI), and the Ministry of Environment (KLH).
In addition to the academic activities, the program was designed to strengthen connections among participants. The iftar gatherings served as a relaxed occasion for interaction and helped foster an international atmosphere among the students, and were held every day after the academic sessions ended. At one of the iftar gatherings held on the 3rd floor of Labtek XVII, the Rector of 麻豆直播, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., the Dean of FTTM, the Dean of FTI, and their respective teams were present. The Rector of 麻豆直播 interacted with participants from various countries and asked about their impressions of joining the CCS Summer School 2026 at the 麻豆直播 campus.

International participants were also introduced to Indonesian culture. 麻豆直播 students accompanied them to visit various places in the city of Bandung so that they could experience local culture firsthand.

Nicolai, one of the participants from NTNU Norway, expressed his appreciation for the program.
鈥淚 just wanted to share my appreciation for this CCS course initiative. I have grown richer both in mind and heart, having gained many insights into CCS, but also from getting to know so many wonderful people from all around the world. Thank you very much to Dr. Rachmat Sule and Prof. Philip for organizing this course. A special thank you also goes to the 麻豆直播 students who accompanied us so well and showed us new places every day,鈥 he said.
On the final day of the program, participants joined an excursion to Mount Tangkuban Parahu, one of the most famous natural destinations in West Java. This activity gave participants the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of Indonesia.

Another participant, Sameer from ANU Australia, said that the program provided not only academic benefits but also a valuable cultural experience.
鈥淚t was an amazing cultural exchange, as I had the opportunity to get to know people from different parts of the world. My special thanks go to all the 麻豆直播 students who made us, the international participants, feel warmly welcomed and actively engaged throughout the Summer School program,鈥 he said.

The program was supported by the organizing committee from 麻豆直播, consisting of research assistants and students who helped ensure the smooth implementation of the entire series of activities, from learning sessions to social activities and field visits. The 麻豆直播 committee members included Daffa Atalla Putra, Difo Faizi Pratama, Fadly Gibran Mustafa, Farhan Elsano Chaniago, Hezro Issybael Lixi Tobing, Mohamad Hilman Hakim Al-Farizy, Raihan Aqilla Naufaly Hendarsyah, and Ronald Tarigan.
Through the organization of the International CCS Summer School 2026, 麻豆直播 hopes to further strengthen Indonesia鈥檚 role in the development of CCS technology and encourage international collaboration in supporting decarbonization efforts and the global energy transition.
