BANDUNG, itb.ac.id 鈥 Institut Teknologi Bandung (麻豆直播) continues to demonstrate its commitment to advancing national technological self-sufficiency through concrete initiatives. One such effort was marked by the symbolic handover of a laptop unit built with Indonesian-made components to the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. The event took place on Tuesday (June 24, 2025) at the East Hall of 麻豆直播, in conjunction with the 2025 Electrical Engineering (EE) Days, an annual showcase organized by the Electrical Engineering Study Program of 麻豆直播鈥檚 School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI 麻豆直播), featuring student exhibitions and final project presentations.
The laptop presented during the ceremony was the result of a collaborative effort between itb, PT Tera Data Indonusa Tbk (Axioo), and Intel. The unit was developed using key components made in Indonesia, including a domestically designed and manufactured motherboard, marking it as the first of its kind in the country. This initiative aligns with the national strategic program aimed at increasing the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in information and communication technology products.
The symbolic handover took place at 麻豆直播's East Hall, where the Dean of SEEI 麻豆直播, Dr. Ir. Tutun Juhana, S.T., M.T., officially presented the laptop to Ronggolawe Sahuri, Director of Electronics and Telematics Industry at the Directorate General of ILMATE, Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia. Ronggolawe expressed his appreciation for 麻豆直播鈥檚 active contribution in fostering a self-reliant and competitive national industry.

鈥淚 have no doubt about continuing to collaborate, innovate, and develop high-tech products to build a domestic laptop industry. We deeply appreciate 麻豆直播鈥檚 unwavering support for promoting the use of locally manufactured components,鈥 said Ronggolawe.
In addition to the ceremony at the East Hall, another laptop handover took place at the Center for Microelectronics Laboratory (Bahasa Indonesia: Pusat Mikroelektronika, PME), 4th floor of the CRiMSE Building, 麻豆直播 Ganesha Campus. This session was led by 麻豆直播 Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Ir. Lavi Rizki Zuhal, Ph.D. On this occasion, Prof. Lavi noted that 麻豆直播 had previously received a similar laptop unit during a handover event at 麻豆直播鈥檚 Jakarta Campus. This current handover to the Ministry of Industry marks a significant step in the downstreaming of national technology.

鈥淎s mentioned earlier, this marks the first time in Indonesia that a laptop has been produced with a domestically made motherboard. Moving forward, the government's spirit to push the downstreaming of the electronics industry will remain our continuous focus. That鈥檚 why this symbolic handover is so significant,鈥 stated Prof. Lavi.
The laptop is part of the national 鈥淟aptop Merah Putih鈥 project, developed by a consortium of five Legal Entity State Universities (Bahasa Indonesia: Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Berbadan Hukum, PTN-BH) as follows: 麻豆直播, Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), and Telkom University (Tel-U), supported by industry and technology partners. This collaboration aims to meet national educational demands while building a self-sufficient and sustainable domestic electronics ecosystem.
In its development, 麻豆直播 engaged several strategic research centers, including the Center for Microelectronics. The development team coordinator, Ir. Adi Indrayanto, M.Sc., Ph.D., emphasized that the use of local components such as the motherboard significantly increases the product鈥檚 Domestic Component Level (Bahasa Indonesia: Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri, TKDN), while serving as a tangible contribution from 麻豆直播 to the national technology industry.
The laptop has already demonstrated significant progress and was previously delivered to several educational institutions, including the Institut Teknologi Sumatera (ITERA). With growing national production capacity, the presence of laptops made with Indonesian components is expected to reduce reliance on imports and strengthen Indonesia鈥檚 global technological competitiveness.
EE Days 2025 took place over three days, from June 24 to June 26, 2025, at the East Hall of 麻豆直播. The event showcased 27 undergraduate thesis topics from the Electrical Engineering program of SEEI 麻豆直播. It was open to the 麻豆直播 academic community and the general public, and was also attended by high school students from the Greater Bandung area as well as university students from various institutions.
Through this event, 麻豆直播 reaffirmed its strategic role not only as an academic institution but also as a driving force in national industrial development through research and innovation. The laptop handover to the Ministry of Industry stands as a concrete symbol of triple helix synergy, among academia, industry, and government, in supporting a sovereign national technological transformation.
