BANDUNG, itb.ac.id 鈥 What began as a simple habit of sharing knowledge has led Alif Hijriah, S.Si., M.Si., a 2014 Mathematics alumnus from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Institut Teknologi Bandung (FMIPA 麻豆直播), to become an Economic Advisor at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.
He shared his journey with 麻豆直播 students during the KU-4078 Studium Generale titled 鈥淏ecoming Youth Who Make an Impact for Indonesia鈥 held at Aula Barat, 麻豆直播 Ganesha Campus, on Wednesday (11/3/2026). The event offered practical insights on how young people can contribute meaningfully to society through innovation, education, and entrepreneurship. During the session, Alif also encouraged 麻豆直播 students to become a generation that not only excels academically but also creates real impact for society.
Alif, who often explains mathematical concepts in everyday contexts through his Instagram account @aliftowew, shared how his passion for learning and sharing knowledge has shaped his career journey鈥攆rom his university years to building innovations in educational technology.

According to Alif, who currently serves as President Commissioner of PT Cerebrum Edukanesia Nusantara, the journey of building an educational technology startup did not begin with a grand plan, but rather with concerns about real problems faced by society.
鈥淚f you want to create a product, don鈥檛 start with the product itself. Start with the problem you want to solve,鈥 he said.
He observed that many students face challenges due to the high cost of tutoring services and limited access to quality education in many regions. In response to these issues, he and his team developed online tryout and practice question platforms, which are now widely used by students across Indonesia.
Building an Educational Technology Startup
Through the startup he founded, Alif aims to introduce educational technology innovations that can reach more students throughout Indonesia. He noted that the digital education market in Indonesia holds enormous potential, with more than 45 million students from elementary to vocational high school levels.
In addition to developing digital platforms, Alif is also active in creating educational content on social media, explaining mathematical concepts in contextual and easy-to-understand ways.
Initially, the activity was simply intended as a way to share knowledge. However, the positive response from the public convinced him that technology could become a powerful tool to expand access to education.
鈥淎t first, I just wanted to share knowledge. But over time, I realized that what we share can have a significant impact,鈥 he said.
Learning to Stay Consistent in Facing Challenges

In building his business, Alif acknowledged that he faced many challenges along the way. However, he believes that continuous learning, adaptability, and consistency in practice are key factors for growth.
These experiences eventually led him to be entrusted with the role of Economic Advisor at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs, where he contributes to addressing various strategic issues related to national development.
Knowledge Must Benefit Society
Alif reminded students that the opportunity to study at a university is a responsibility that should be used to benefit society.
鈥淲hen we are given the opportunity to study, it means we have a responsibility to contribute to the people and the nation of Indonesia,鈥 he said.
Through his story, Alif demonstrates that a spirit of sharing knowledge, a willingness to keep learning, and consistency in pursuing one鈥檚 goals can open pathways for young people to make meaningful contributions to society.
