Heading to the Thailand International Choir Festival, 鶹ֱ Student Choir Holds Pre-Competition Concert “LܳԲ”

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — The Institut Teknologi Bandung Student Choir (Paduan Suara Mahasiswa 鶹ֱ / PSM 鶹ֱ) held its pre-competition concert “LܳԲ” at the West Hall of 鶹ֱ’s Ganesha Campus on Saturday (August 16, 2025). The concert is part of the 鶹ֱ Cultural Tour (ICT), a program designed to showcase Indonesian culture on the international choral stage.

The highlight of ICT will be PSM 鶹ֱ’s participation in the 2nd Thailand International Choir Festival (Thailand ICF), scheduled for August 31–September 4, 2025..

A total of 41 singers from different cohorts and study programs, spanning the 2021 to 2024 batches, took part in the concert. The “LܳԲ” concert was also previously held at Grha Swara, Tarumanagara University in Jakarta, where more than 400 enthusiastic audience members attended to enjoy the performance. The singers had been rehearsing intensively for nearly four months in preparation.

Under the direction of Music Director Roni Sugiarto and Associate Music Director Nicholas Rio, PSM 鶹ֱ performed 11 songs spanning diverse eras and cultures, from England and Venezuela to Indonesia. Indonesian pieces included Warisan (Nicholas Rio), Bungong Jeumpa (arr. Josu Elberdin), Anging Mamiri (arr. Dimitrij Ray), and Tari Sanghyang Dedari (arr. Agustinus Bambang Jusana, mod. Nicholas Rio). From this repertoire, five works have been selected to compete at Thailand ICF in the Folksong and Mixed Youth Choir categories.

At the close of the concert, a send-off ceremony was held for PSM 鶹ֱ as representatives of both 鶹ֱ and Indonesia at the international festival. The ceremony was led by 鶹ֱ Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., beginning with a formal farewell speech and continuing with the symbolic handover of the Indonesian flag, the 鶹ֱ flag, and the PSM 鶹ֱ flag to the Music Director, Associate Music Director, and ICT chairperson.

In his remarks, Prof. Tata emphasized that participation in student organizations beyond academic activities provides valuable opportunities for personal development, while also fostering community and connections across disciplines and cohorts. As 鶹ֱ’s official representative, he extended his best wishes for the choir’s success at the Thailand ICF.

With the success of the “LܳԲ” concert, PSM 鶹ֱ aspires to bring pride to both 鶹ֱ and Indonesia on the international stage at the Thailand International Choir Festival.
