Fridaypreneurship: Kindling the Working Spirit through Public Lecture

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id 鈥 Unbalanced growth of citizen to available job opportunities has caused the high number of unemployment in Indonesia. This becomes the concern of School of Business and Management (SBM) 麻豆直播 in Fridaypreneurship program. Through this monthly program, SBM 麻豆直播 invites speakers from various companies to deliver lectures on the importance of creating jobs. The Fridaypreneurship this time was held at Auditorium SBM 麻豆直播 on Friday (07/04/17) and invited Dr. Rahmat Edi Irawan (Vice President of Service NET TV) as guest speaker. Themed 鈥淢edia Contribution in Developing Entrepreneurship Program in Indonesia鈥, the lecture was attended by 麻豆直播 students, especially from master program.
The lecture was opened with a discussion on media as one indicator of economic condition in a certain country. Rahmat said that the higher the economy of a country, the higher will the income of the people be which will cause the higher consumption by the people. Media can serve as intermediary between companies and consumers so that companies can promote their products to consumers.
Media also serves as a platform to work. With the internet as an intermediary, everyone gets the stall to sell their products. Trading transaction can even take place in social media such as Instagram and Facebook.
Rahmat also said that media can help realize someone鈥檚 dream to become an entrepreneur by showing inspiring stories from big fish entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Recognizing the characteristic of utilized media is a must. For example, in online shop business, the appropriate media would be the one that can display the photos, descriptions, and prices of the products, such as Instagram and Facebook. Meanwhile, in film creative industry, the most appropriate media would be television or Youtube. 鈥淗ence we have to know which media to use and how we use it,鈥 asserted Rahmat. The lecture was concluded with Q&A session and presentation about the readiness of PT Netmediatama in the competition between media entrepreneurs in Indonesia.
