BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Bandoengsche Technische Hoogeschool Fonds (BTHF) commemorated its 100th Anniversary at Aula Barat, Institut Teknologi Bandung (鶹ֱ) Ganesha Campus, on Tuesday (10/2/2026). The centennial celebration marked a moment of reflection on BTHF’s long-standing commitment to supporting higher education, talent development, and strengthening academic collaboration between Indonesia and the Netherlands.

鶹ֱ Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., stated that reaching a century is not merely a matter of time, but a reflection of dedication, trust, and intergenerational commitment.

“BTHF continues to grow and adapt to the dynamics of changing times while consistently upholding its noble values and mission. This continuity is what makes BTHF a distinguished institution and an inseparable part of 鶹ֱ’s history and identity,” he said.

The Rector added that since the early days of Technische Hoogeschool te Bandoeng, BTHF has consistently supported education, nurtured outstanding talents, and believed in human potential. This support has enabled many 鶹ֱ students to grow into scientists, engineers, innovators, leaders, and public servants who contribute meaningfully to Indonesia and the global community.

Meanwhile, the Charge d’Affaires Representative of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dr. Adriaan Palm, highlighted the celebration as a symbol of one hundred years of Indonesia–Netherlands cooperation in education and science. He noted that the partnership, which began on 10 February 1926, has evolved into a dynamic and mutually reinforcing academic relationship.

“This collaboration has developed into a dynamic partnership, connecting generations of academics, researchers, and students across borders. The 鶹ֱ–BTHF cooperation plays an important role in building this academic bridge, including through support for study and research in the Netherlands,” he stated.

The event continued with the presentation of tokens of appreciation and a group photo session, followed by a series of keynote speeches. The first keynote was delivered by Dr. Fauzan Adziman, S.T., M.Eng., a BTHF alumnus and Director General of Research and Development at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, as well as a recipient of the 2003 Ganesha Prize. His presence represented the tangible impact of BTHF’s support on the academic and leadership journeys of 鶹ֱ alumni.

The program proceeded with an overview of BTHF’s history and development presented by Prof. Eelco van Beek, Chair of BTHF, who reflected on the foundation’s journey from its early years to the present day. This was followed by a keynote titled “Past, Present, and Future – 鶹ֱ and Delft” delivered by Prof. Ena Voute, Pro-Vice Rector of International Affairs at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), highlighting the continuity of 鶹ֱ–Netherlands academic collaboration. During the session, TU Delft presented a commemorative memento to the Rector of 鶹ֱ as a symbol of institutional partnership.

Another keynote titled “Future Collaboration itb–BTHF” was delivered by Prof. Bayu Jayawardhana, an itb alumnus, BTHF Board Member, and Professor at the University of Groningen. The morning session concluded with a panel discussion featuring BTHF alumni from different generations, moderated by Dr. Faizal Rohmat, before the lunch break.

In the afternoon, the program continued with job fair registration, presentations on research and innovation at 鶹ֱ, and company pitches from various industry partners. This session was designed as a networking platform connecting alumni, students, researchers, and industry representatives to foster opportunities for research collaboration and human resource development.

The afternoon activities included engagement sessions at company booths, before the entire celebration concluded with a dinner reception at the 鶹ֱ Rector’s Official Residence.

Through this centennial commemoration, 鶹ֱ and BTHF reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships—not only through scholarship programs, but also through leadership development, interdisciplinary innovation, and international research collaboration to address global challenges such as climate change, food and health security, and digital transformation.
