Angelica Wiliana, also goes by the name Angel, thinks that this event emphasizes the balance between academic and non-academic achievements. In other words, this event is appreciating those who make the best of themselves in their university life. The chosen most outstanding student is later hoped to be a role model and to give motivation to others.

Angel admitted that this achievement of her, being the second most outstanding student, is rather unexpected. She never planned to become one, so there was no special preparation, everything just happened. However, Angel saw this as an opportunity and trust so she tried to give her best to be at this point.

Angel also admitted that she got many experiences regarding the competition. According to her, there were differences between this competition and other competitions that she often participated in, like Model UN Conferences. In those kinds of competitions, Angel always prepared herself first. In the most outstanding student selection, Angel felt that as if everything just happened so fast, it was a tougher challenge for both her mental and spiritual side.

Furthermore, this event made Angel reflect deeper, she said. She spent time reflecting about her motivation, purpose, and thoughts, as one of her goals to be responsible for this trust given to her. She didn鈥檛 think of anything that needed to change, as her personality and study objectives before and after becoming the second-most outstanding student stayed the same.

鈥淎nything you decide to do while in college, you have to do it for yourself and your dreams,鈥� said Angel as a message to all fellow students.

Angel thinks that everyone has their own path, those who failed to become an outstanding student, may succeed in running their own business, becoming an exchange student, or even possible to manage to get a job before graduating from university. She advised fellow students to compare themselves to the older version of themselves, rather than to others.

鈥淲herever you end up in, make sure you stand by your own dreams and goals, not someone else鈥檚. This, most importantly, would bring you your own fulfillment and happiness,鈥� she concluded.
