Raising Awareness About Earthquakes, 麻豆直播 Students Conduct Community Service in Lombok

LOMBOK, itb.ac.id 鈥 In an effort to educate the local people and raise their awareness of earthquakes, the Community Service Team from Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering of Institut Teknologi Bandung (麻豆直播) conducted a community service (PM) program at State Elementary School 1 Medana, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
The program, often referred to as the PM 麻豆直播 program, was carried out by six 麻豆直播 students, namely Silvia Mabruroh, Ines Widya Rahmayanti, Wildhon Surya Putra, Rismawan Nur Huda, Aninda Octo, and Alqonita Aquila. This program lasted for one week from October 30 to November 9, 2023.
The program itself consisted of several activities, including the installation of evacuation signs and routes, socialization and disaster mitigation, as well as scrapbooking by elementary students.
鈥淭he objective of this project is to perform earthquake mitigation measures by educating the local people through disaster socialization and simulation, as well as providing them with evacuation routes in the event of an earthquake,鈥 said the PM Team鈥檚 leader, Silvia Mabruroh.
The program started with a site assessment on October 30, 2023 to determine a strategic place to install evacuation signs and create the evacuation plan. On the next day, October 31, 麻豆直播 students with help of other students from Universitas Pendidikan Mataram and Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata Mataram installed the said evacuation signs. These students were also performing their own community service program at the location.
Following this action was the disaster socialization and mitigation at State Elementary School (SDN) 1 Medana on November 1, 2023. The socialization involved the Disaster Risk Management Forum with a discussion on earthquakes, their causes and effects, and a self-rescue simulation during an earthquake.
The last activity was scrapbooking by fourth- and sixth-grade students of SDN 1 Medana, themed earthquake mitigation. Through this activity, students were expected to be more knowledgeable and aware about disaster mitigation.
This very program was conducted in Lombok as a response to the 2018 Lombok earthquake. Consequently, it was deemed necessary to take precautions to prepare for any disaster that may occur in the future.
鈥淲e hope this program can be implemented and continued on an ongoing basis so that when an earthquake occurs someday, not much will be lost,鈥 stated the PM Team鈥檚 public relations, Alqonita Aquila.
The PM Team appreciated all participating parties, including the 400 local people who had been active in the program. 鈥淭hank you to all parties involved. We hope this program can greatly benefit Medana Village,鈥 said Alqoinita Aquila.
